Death of Emperor Julian the Apostate's predecessor — Constantius II
Constantius II, the Arian-sympathising emperor who exiled Athanasius multiple times and dominated Eastern episcopal appointments, died on this date, opening the way for Julian's brief pagan restoration.

Feast of the Epiphany
The manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles in the persons of the Magi. One of the oldest feasts in the Church, celebrated since at least the 3rd century in the East. Tertullian and Origen both commented on its significance.
