Death of Pope St. Gregory the Great

One of the four great Doctors of the Western Church. Gregory reformed the liturgy, sent Augustine to evangelise England, codified Gregorian chant, wrote the Pastoral Rule and Moralia in Job, and defined the papacy's pastoral role in a time of imperial collapse.
