Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica
The Cathedral of Rome — Omnium ecclesiarum mater et caput, mother and head of all churches — was dedicated by Pope Sylvester I on this date in AD 324 following its construction under Constantine. Its dedication feast is kept universally as a sign of unity with Rome.
