Council of Sardica
A council of Eastern and Western bishops met at Sardica to address the Arian crisis and the exiles of Athanasius and Paul of Constantinople. Though the Eastern bishops withdrew, the Western council produced canons giving the Bishop of Rome a key role in episcopal appeals.
